Fall Pet Cemetery Hike - Saturday October 19th 2019 - 2:00pm-3:30pm
It is fall and the leaves are changing, time for the Halloween ghosts and goblins to come out! Join us for this hike to a local pet cemetery from yesteryear. It is believed this the resting place for the former horses and show hounds of the former Lewis A. Park estate during the 1920’s-1940’s. A majority of the eastern side of our park was once part of this elaborate estate which included a zoo, hunting cabin, golf course and famed roller coaster. We will meet in the main parking lot of Sewickley Heights Borough Park and hike in to the site. This hike will involve some uphill/uneven walking but nothing an active 7 year old can’t handle (approx. 2 miles total). Who knows maybe we will cross paths with some fresh apple cider/cookies on our journey! Reservations are required, suggested donation of $7 per participant. We will learn a little bit about local plants and animals in the park on our trip as well. Email April Claus to register at firstname.lastname@example.org or text 412-335-4951 and she will tell you where to meet the group for this “spooky” hike.
